A wide range of classes and one off workshops is available giving an opportunity to learn the basics of photography along with more advanced techniques.

All weekly clssses at the photomedia studio whether all ability or intermediate cover the use of the camera, stills photography, studio lighting, indoor and outdoor photography and Photoshop at the appropriate level.

Unique Fashion
Working in partnership with the University of the West of Scotland, we held a Unique Fashion Shoot event on the 27 February right here in the studio. It was a lively, productive session, with everyone who attended taking something away with them that will ideally be useful in their individual futures.
At the event we had distinguished photographer David Fallon, whom on the day guided participants through everything from composition of shots to how to handle models, even at times stepping in as the model himself to further his demonstrations.
To help out on the modelling side of things, we had Stephanie Hall coming in to work as our model for the day. She did a wonderful job and had some marvelous shots taken.
The man responsible for organising this successful event was Unique Fashion's Andrew Watson who was in attendance on the day helping to make sure everything ran smoothly.
Christmas Filming
Over the Christmas period film maker Wilma Smith was busy filming her latest project. The film is a period piece and used Summerlee's cottages as one of the locations.

Photomedia Studio
Summerlee Photomedia Studio opened in February 2010 with an introductory programme of weekly classes, school workshops, and short courses.The new purpose built facility, based within the Ironworks Building of Summerlee Museum of Scottish Industrial Heritage, has a traditional photographic darkroom and a multipurpose studio comprising full photographic studio lighting kit, resources and nine digital photomedia workstations. This new facility offers individuals the opportunity to work in traditional and digital photography, animation, video and copmuter based music.
