Below you will find the powerpoint presentations from the Scottish Confucius Hubs used in Tianjin during our visit there in March 2010.

I have now managed to upload all of the photographs and hope that you will enjoy viewing and using them. If you have any questions about downloading and saving the pictures please be in touch.

Since arriving home I have been having some problems with my computer! I have had to re-format the hard disk and re-install many programmes. As a result I have not been able to upload as many photographs as I would have liked. Please be patient and I will upload as many as I can as soon as I can.

During the morning a group explored Tianjin while another group took the bullet train to Beijing and back! The bullet train reached speeds up to 330km/h and took only 30 minutes each way. In the afternoon we had a "fondue" Chinese style before visiting the "
Tianjin Planning Exhibition Hall". This whole building is dedicated to showing the plans for the re-development of this city of 11 million people. We started on the long journey home. Both flights took off on time and we even arrived back 10 minutes early in Glasgow on Saturday 13 March.

Today we all presented our Hubs to the schools we are linking with in Tianjin. This was followed by a "carry out
" lunch with chopsticks! In the afternoon we visited "Ancient Street", a part of the city whichh has been re-built in the style of the old dock area. We then visited an old city gate. Photographs taken this morning have been uploaded to picture site mentioned below.

The whole group arrived safely in
Beijing this afternoon and we had mostly enjoyed the flight. One colleague was ill on the flight to Dubai and was lucky to be allowed to take the flight to Beijing. Our arrival was spoiled by the time it took to clear immigration. It was 2 hours after we landed and by the time we went to the carousel for the luggage, the flight details had been removed.
We have all had the chance to recover, shower and see some of the sights near to the hotel. A buffet dinner in the hotel was a little disappointing.
Still we are here and after a night's sleep we will be ready for the visit to the
Hanban and
Tianjin.

Travel to and from Beijing has now been confirmed. We will be flying with
Emirates airlines from Glasgow via Dubai to Beijing. We will be back in Glasgow at 11.25 on Saturday 13 March. For those who have previously travelled to Beijing via Amsterdam with KLM, this will be a new experience. I know that my niece is trying to workout how she can see me while I am in Dubai airport! Full details will be discussed at the pre-visit meeting on Wednesday 3 March. I look forward to meeting you all there.

During our visit to Beijing and Tianjin I hope to upload some photographs on a daily basis. The whole photo archive will be hosted elsewhere so that all participants will be able to access the photographs for educational use.
