Choose a Maths Map

Work with a partner, one of you keep these instructions on screen, the other open the link below. Click on the wee orange guy on the pin, swipe to move around, stake screenshots, note answers, make a comic to show what you learned.

  1. What shapes are the tables and stools at this cafe?
  2. How many of them can you count? (Move around the cafe to see them all)
  3. Look at the windows of the cafe, what shapes are they?
  4. How many can you count?
  5. Can you find a rectangle within a circle? There are two of them.
  6. This is a tricky one! Can you find a black irregular hexagon somewhere on the ground?

When you get to google maps click on the small orange guy on the marker label.

This will take you to streetview, you need to look around carefully. Try swiping the screen, to move along the street click on the arrows. you can zoon in in the same way as you can on a photo.

You are going to visit the Jardin du Luxembourg. When you arrive you need to take a picture (screenshot) of the shape in the middle of the garden. Look around, change to satellite and look around the map, save pictures of the different 2D shape you can see.

After you have saved a few pictures make a comic with one or more shape. Use comic Twist to Explain the features of the different shapes. Make sure you add your name. Save you comic and upload it to FirstClass.
